Safety Features of Commercial Passenger Elevator
Motor Overload Protection - When the elevator overloads, excessive current is generated, which can harm the motor. This feature protects motor from such excess current.ARD (Auto rescue device) - Prolonged power failure can panic the passenger in the elevator and the situation can worsen, if it gets unnoticed. Auto Rescue Device is designed to tackle this situation. During the power failure, it takes care of the elevator operation, moves the elevator and land the passengers to the nearby floor.

Emergency Stop Switch - Emergency stop switch is provided in LOP in order to stop the cabin in an event of any emergency or in case when incorrect command is pressed.
Single Phase Protection - This feature protects the three phase motor, i.e., elevator traction motor in case of any missing phase.
Reverse Phase Protection - This feature gives protection to motor, in case of reverse phase problem.
Over Speed Governor - It is a mechanical system designed for over speed protection. It comes into action when the traveling speed of the cabin rises, because of the incidents, like:
Brake failure
Motor failure
Gear box failure
Wire rope breaks
The role of mechanical break is to never let the elevator fall down. It will stop the elevator where it is, by holding the Guide T.
Final Limit Switch - When the elevator cabin doesn't stop on the top floor, final limit switch for upper motion comes to an action. Whereas, the final limit switch for downward motion works when elevator doesn't stop on the lower most level.
Buffer The role of Buffer in an elevator shaft is to cure the damage of the cabin or the passenger /material inside the cabin, by giving it a spring action. Type of Elevator Buffer are:-

Based on the elevator's cabin size, speed, capacity and traveling height, buffer is selected.
Fire Man Switch - This is an electrical isolation switch installed within a staircase enclosure designed to disconnect the electrical power supply to the relevant floor or zone served. This switch is useful in an event of fire.
